Date & Time
Number of workdays in a month (and remaining business days)
Count total business days in any month and remaining working days to month-end excluding weekends and holidays with NETWORKDAYS.
Quota pacing requires working days, not calendar days
May 2026 has 31 calendar days, 21 Monday–Friday weekdays, and 20 business days after subtracting the example’s chosen May 25 holiday. Dividing a 40,000 monthly sales quota by 20 business days sets an accurate 2,000/day run-rate.
Construct the month window dynamically from any date A2 using DATE(YEAR(A2), MONTH(A2), 1) for the 1st and EOMONTH(A2, 0) for month-end.
| RefDate (A) | Holiday (B) | Quota (C) | Total Workdays | Workdays Left (incl. RefDate) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 2026-05-18 | 2026-05-25 | 40000 | 20 days (2,000/day) | 9 days |
Total workdays in month and workdays remaining
NETWORKDAYS counts both start_date and end_date inclusively when they fall on business days.
=NETWORKDAYS(DATE(YEAR(A2), MONTH(A2), 1), EOMONTH(A2, 0), B2:B2)Remaining business days from current date to month-end
For strictly future workdays use MAX(0, NETWORKDAYS(INT(A2)+1, EOMONTH(A2, 0), B2:B2)); the clamp handles a reference date already at month-end.
=NETWORKDAYS(A2, EOMONTH(A2, 0), B2:B2)Inputs and interpretation
NETWORKDAYS assumes Saturday/Sunday weekends and only excludes holidays you provide. May 25 is one selected closure here, not a universal holiday. Use date-only values or INT to remove times, expand the holiday range as needed, and guard a zero working-day denominator when calculating quota per day.
