Multiplication table & 2D SaaS seat-pricing matrix ($A3 * B$1 vs spilled array)

Generate a 2D outer-product matrix with either classic mixed references ($A3 * B$1) or a single spilled dynamic-array formula (A3:A5 * B1:D1).

Two ways to build a 2D pricing or multiplication grid: Mixed Refs vs Array Spill

For a plain multiplication grid, enter =$A3*B$1 in B3 and fill across and down. The fixed column A supplies row quantities; the fixed row 1 supplies column multipliers.

For the priced grid shown here, enter =ROUND($A3*$E$2*B$1*(1-B$2),2) in B3 and fill through D5. These are total amounts for the whole term, not monthly charges. Rate, discounts and tax treatment are illustrative.

Alternatively, =A3:A5*$E$2*B1:D1*(1-B2:D2) produces the entire unrounded 3-by-3 quote matrix. Place it in a separate empty area so the output does not overwrite its headers or collide with the filled formulas.

Seats \ Term Months ($20/seat/mo)1 Mo (0% off)12 Mos (10% off)24 Mos (20% off)
5 Seats ($A3)$100$1,080$1,920
10 Seats ($A4)$200$2,160$3,840
25 Seats ($A5)$500$5,400$9,600

Mixed-reference 2D quote cell and dynamic outer-product formulas

Evaluates Seats ($A4) * MonthlyRate ($E$2) * Months (C$1) * (1 - TermDisc C$2).

=ROUND($A4 * $E$2 * C$1 * (1 - C$2), 2)

Sum all cells in the spilled 2D outer-product matrix A3:A5 * B1:D1

This sums only seats multiplied by months. The result 1,480 is seat-months, not revenue; it excludes the monthly rate and discounts.

=SUM(A3:A5 * B1:D1)

Produce the full quote matrix

Use an empty three-row by three-column output area. The seeded values yield the table above.

=A3:A5*$E$2*B1:D1*(1-B2:D2)
