Calculate percent of year complete (leap-year exact pacing)
Divide ordinal day-of-year by exact calendar days in that year (365 or 366) to benchmark annual quota and budget pacing.
Count actual calendar days in the selected year
Anchor Dec 31 of the prior year as priorYearEnd = DATE(YEAR(A2), 1, 0). Elapsed days inclusive of A2 equal A2 - priorYearEnd, and total days in that calendar year equal DATE(YEAR(A2), 12, 31) - priorYearEnd (365 in common years, 366 in leap years).
On July 1, 2024 (a 366-day leap year), 31 + 29 + 31 + 30 + 31 + 30 + 1 = 183 days have elapsed—giving an exact 183 / 366 = 50.00% midpoint.
This counts the as-of day as completed, equivalent to an end-of-day reporting convention. At the start of January 1, elapsed time is zero instead. INT discards time-of-day; linear annual pacing does not model seasonality.
| AsOfDate (A) | Elapsed Days | Total Year Days | Year Complete % |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2026-07-02 | 183 | 365 | 0.5014 (50.14%) |
| 2024-07-01 | 183 | 366 | 0.5 (50.00%) |
| 2026-12-31 | 365 | 365 | 1 (100.00%) |
Percent complete and percent remaining formulas
Multiply AnnualQuota by this fraction to compute linear run-rate expectation as of AsOfDate.
=LET(priorYearEnd, DATE(YEAR(A2), 1, 0), ROUND((INT(A2) - priorYearEnd) / (DATE(YEAR(A2), 12, 31) - priorYearEnd), 4))Percent of year remaining
Subtracting elapsed fraction from 1 gives remaining year share (1 - 0.5014 = 0.4986).
