Date & Time
Get the next specific weekday from a date (e.g., next Friday)
Advance any order or billing date to the upcoming target weekday—choosing explicitly between same-day inclusive and strictly next week.
On-or-after vs strictly-after when OrderDate already matches
Shipping cutoffs need clear boundary behavior when an order arrives ON Friday (ISO 5): does it ship that same Friday (+0 days) or next Friday (+7 days)?
A2 + MOD(TargetDow - WEEKDAY(A2, 2) + 7, 7) returns 0 offset on a matching day (on-or-after), whereas A2 + MOD(TargetDow - WEEKDAY(A2, 2) + 6, 7) + 1 always advances 1 to 7 days forward (strictly after).
Use date-only inputs and an integer target weekday from 1 through 7. These formulas do not account for holidays or time-of-day shipping cutoffs; configure those separately.
| OrderDate (A) | Target (B = 5 Fri) | On-or-After Friday | Strictly Next Friday |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2026-04-15 (Wed) | 5 (Friday) | 2026-04-17 | 2026-04-17 |
| 2026-04-17 (Fri) | 5 (Friday) | 2026-04-17 (+0d) | 2026-04-24 (+7d) |
Upcoming weekday formulas
From Wednesday 2026-04-15, both formulas return Friday 2026-04-17; on Friday 2026-04-17 itself, they diverge cleanly into 2026-04-17 versus 2026-04-24.

Adding +1 outside MOD(..., 7) shifts the range of offsets from 0..6 to 1..7.
