Date & Time
Get days, hours, and minutes between two timestamps ("3d 15h 30m")
Calculate multi-day incident or transit durations into clean "Xd Yh Zm" labels without losing 24-hour rollovers or suffering floating-point minute drift.
Convert total span to rounded integer minutes first!
Convert the elapsed serial-day difference to minutes and round once, then split that integer into days, hours and minutes. MINUTE itself returns 0 through 59; rounding a separately computed remainder is what can create a carry.

Rounded-minute "Xd Yh Zm" elapsed duration formula
1440 equals 24 hours * 60 minutes per calendar day.
=IF(B2<A2,"End precedes start",LET(m, ROUND((B2 - A2) * 1440, 0), INT(m / 1440) & "d " & INT(MOD(m, 1440) / 60) & "h " & MOD(m, 60) & "m"))Total elapsed hours (decimal) for SLA averages
Keep numeric decimal hours in a parallel column when computing AVERAGEIFS SLA metrics.
=ROUND((B2 - A2) * 24, 2)Inputs and interpretation
Use numeric timestamps with end at or after start and a consistent time basis. Rounding to whole minutes deliberately discards seconds; it does not remove all numerical error. Spreadsheet timestamps have no time-zone or daylight-saving metadata, so subtraction does not automatically correct DST transitions.
