Formula Auditing & Logic

Build an ISNOTERROR Formula Gate (NOT(ISERROR)) for Pre-Publish Workbook Checks

Construct the missing ISNOTERROR predicate with NOT(ISERROR(cell)) to score clean-row pass rates, block broken model tabs from release, and coordinate team sign-off.

Why spreadsheets have ISERROR and IFERROR—but no built-in ISNOTERROR

Spreadsheet engines provide ISERROR, ISERR, and ISNA to test whether a cell failed, yet conditional formatting rules, data-validation gates, and release-readiness checklists frequently ask the positive question: "Is every formula cell in this block completely free of errors?"

Composing NOT(ISERROR(C2)) creates a clean boolean gate (TRUE for any valid number, text, or boolean; FALSE for #DIV/0!, #N/A, #VALUE!, #REF!, #NAME?, or #NUM!), which aggregates across an entire schedule via COUNTIF(D2:D5, TRUE) / ROWS(D2:D5).

=90 / 0#DIV/0!TRUEFALSE
=150 / 530FALSETRUE
=XLOOKUP("X", A2:A4, B2:B4)#N/ATRUEFALSE

Row-Level ISNOTERROR Predicate & Clean Pass Rate

Evaluate NOT(ISERROR(C2)) per row, then divide COUNTIF(D2:D5, TRUE) by ROWS(D2:D5) for the clean-row percentage.

Collaborative Pre-Publish Sign-Off Gate

In shared Arte Sheets financial models, teams place a top-banner release gate IF(Clean_Count = Total_Rows, "Publish_Ready", "Fix_Errors_First") and use @mentions in comments to assign any FALSE row to its section owner before granting viewer access.

=IF(COUNTIF(D2:D5, TRUE) = ROWS(D2:D5), "Publish_Ready", "Fix_Errors_First")
