Count & Sum Odd vs Even Numbers in a Range (MOD, ISODD & SUMIF)

Test integer parity with MOD(n, 2) or ISODD/ISEVEN and count or sum odd-numbered vs even-numbered street addresses, lot IDs, and quantities cleanly across any spreadsheet engine.

Split street deliveries, badge numbers, and invoice runs by Odd vs Even parity!

Municipal courier routing (North/East odd house numbers vs South/West even house numbers), license-plate rationing, and QA lot sampling all test whether an integer n is Odd or Even! Mathematically, =MOD(B2, 2) returns 1 for every odd integer (positive OR negative, because Excel's floored MOD(-3, 2) = +1!) and 0 for every even integer—matching =--ISODD(B2) on whole numbers!

Adding a transparent 0/1 Parity Helper Column C (=MOD(B2, 2)) lets COUNTIF(C2:C6, 1) count odd entries, COUNTIF(C2:C6, 0) count even entries, and SUMIF(C2:C6, 1, D2:D6) total odd-side package weights in O(N) time across every spreadsheet version!

Count Odd vs Even Entries Using MOD(n, 2) Parity Column

Counts rows where Parity Helper C2:C6 (=MOD(B2, 2)) equals 1 (Odd) or 0 (Even).

=COUNTIF(C2:C6, 1)

Sum Quantities Associated with Odd or Even IDs (SUMIF + ISODD Check)

Totals parcel counts D2:D6 for odd house numbers (C = 1) vs even house numbers (C = 0).

=SUMIF(C2:C6, 1, D2:D6)
