Collaborative Formula-Override Audit with ISFORMULA & Suggest-Mode Governance

Detect accidental literal value pastes over calculated model columns using per-row ISFORMULA flags, pinpoint the first broken line via INDEX/MATCH, and prevent silent overrides with Suggest Mode and @mentions.

Catching silent paste-values overrides in multi-user models

During fast-moving forecast reviews, a teammate with direct edit rights can accidentally type or paste a static number over a live formula cell. On the surface, the number looks plausible today—until upstream assumptions change tomorrow and that hardcoded row silently refuses to recalculate!

Adding an explicit per-row audit flag =IF(ISFORMULA(C2), 0, 1) immediately counts broken formulas across the column and locates the exact row ID via INDEX/MATCH. In collaborative spreadsheet editors such as Arte Sheets—alongside other cloud spreadsheet platforms—workbook owners can also invite reviewers in the Suggester role (or toggle Suggest Mode) so proposed cell edits appear as reviewable suggestions with live cursors/avatars, comments, @mentions, and notifications rather than silently overwriting live formulas.

Forecast RowBase Plan (Col B)Target Cell (Col C)ISFORMULA Audit Flag (Col D)
Line_01_NA1200=B2 * 1.15 -> 13800 (Formula intact)
Line_02_APAC1500=B3 * 1.15 -> 17250 (Formula intact)
Line_03_EMEA20002300 (Static literal paste!)1 (OVERRIDE_DETECTED)
Line_04_LATAM800=B5 * 1.15 -> 9200 (Formula intact)

Per-Row ISFORMULA Literal-Override Flag Formula

Evaluate ISFORMULA on each target cell in column C so rows holding static numbers, text, or blanks flag 1 while live formulas return 0.

=IF(ISFORMULA(C2), 0, 1)

First Overwritten Row Locator Formula

Return "ALL_FORMULAS_INTACT" when SUM(D2:D5) = 0, and otherwise retrieve the first broken line identifier with INDEX and exact MATCH(1, D2:D5, 0).

=IF(SUM(D2:D5) = 0, "ALL_FORMULAS_INTACT", INDEX(A2:A5, MATCH(1, D2:D5, 0)))
