AI Assistant Chart Creation: 7 Supported Chart Types, Explicit Ranges & Data Prep

Use Arte Sheets’ AI Assistant via text or voice to create column, bar, line, area, pie, doughnut, and scatter charts on explicit A1:C10 ranges (<= 10,000 cells, <= 50 charts/sheet, title <= 120 chars), and prepare clean summary tables for instant charting.

Exact chart-creation rules enforced by js/assistant/commands.js in Arte Sheets

On eligible plans with a verified email and metered monthly AI credits, Arte Sheets’ AI Assistant can build native worksheet charts directly from typed prompts or bounded WebRTC voice commands (<= 3 minutes per call)! Before rendering a chart, validateCommand in js/assistant/commands.js verifies five strict client-side guardrails: (1) chartType must be one of the 7 supported types—column, bar, line, area, pie, doughnut, or scatter; (2) range must be an explicit top-left-to-bottom-right A1:B10 rectangle (whole-column references like A:B are rejected) spanning at most 10,000 cells within 1,000,000 rows × 16,384 columns; (3) title must be <= 120 characters; (4) the active sheet must be unprotected and contain fewer than 50 existing charts; and (5) the session must be in edit mode (not viewer, suggester, or suggest mode)!

Even better, you can combine KPI preparation and chart creation in a single multi-step execute_steps prompt (up to 10 steps total): for example, Step 1 populates clean category totals and % shares in D2:F5 with SUMIFS, and Step 2 calls create_chart on D1:E5! Pre-aggregating raw transaction logs into a compact 4-to-12-row summary block produces crisp labels and stays effortlessly inside the 10,000-cell range cap!

Chart Range Cell-Count Guardrail Check (Rows * Columns <= 10,000 Cells)

Verifies whether a proposed chart rectangle of B2 rows by B3 columns with current sheet chart count B4 satisfies Arte Sheets’ AI chart limits.

=IF(OR(B2 < 2, B3 < 2, B4 < 0), "Invalid Dimensions", IF(B4 >= 50, "Sheet Chart Limit Reached (50 Max)", IF(B2 * B3 > 10000, "Exceeds 10,000-Cell AI Chart Range Limit", "Ready for AI create_chart (" & (B2 * B3) & " Cells)")))

Pre-Aggregated Channel Revenue Share (%) for Pie / Doughnut / Column Charting

Computes Channel E2’s percentage share of total chart series E2:E4 so pie/doughnut labels sum to 100%.

=IF(SUM($E$2:$E$4) <= 0, "Zero Series Total", ROUND(100 * E2 / SUM($E$2:$E$4), 2))
