AI Cell Formatting, Number Formats & Data-Validation Guardrails in Financial Schedules

Apply clean currency, percent, integer, alignment, and #RRGGBB highlight styles—or scale raw dollars into $M display columns—understanding how Arte Sheets validates cell styles, data-validation rules, and suggest-mode permissions.

Scaling millions cleanly ($M = ROUND(Raw / 1000000, 2)) and understanding validated AI style patches!

Executive P&L schedules routinely convert raw accounting ledger amounts into clean Millions ($M = ROUND(B2 / 1000000, 2)) and Gross Margin percentages (=ROUND((B2 - C2) / B2 * 100, 2)). When styling financial tables through Arte Sheets’ AI assistant, every style patch is strictly schema-checked: bold and italic booleans, 6-digit hex colors (#RRGGBB) for color and bg, numFmt values in {general, number, integer, currency, percent, date}, and align in {left, center, right}—while omitting value leaves existing cell formulas untouched during formatting-only passes!

Two built-in guardrails protect shared workbooks: first, every proposed cell value is checked against active sheet Data Validation rules (store.validateCellInput) and rejected if merged or inside a spill range; second, when collaborating in suggest mode or with the suggester role, value/formula edits convert into cell suggestions, whereas style changes require full editor/owner permissions!

Scaled Revenue in Millions ($M) = ROUND(Raw_USD / 1000000, 2)

Divides raw dollar revenue B2 by 1,000,000 and rounds to two decimal places for executive reporting.

=ROUND(B2 / 1000000, 2)

Zero-Safe Gross Margin Percentage = IF(B2 <= 0, "Zero Revenue", ROUND((B2 - C2) / B2 * 100, 2))

Computes gross profit margin percentage across explicit bounded cells B2 and C2.

=IF(B2 <= 0, "Zero Revenue", ROUND((B2 - C2) / B2 * 100, 2))
